How to correctly measure your hot tub cove

Once the time comes to replace your spa or hot tub cover, remember that you will need to give fairly exact measurements to get a new cover. This information teaches how to take those sizes, and clears up any points of confusion you may have so you can successfully buy a brand new cover. Once you get your measurements, you can save them so you don't have to do it yet again and your following order will be a simple process.

You should note that the spa manufacturers do alter the dimensions of their spas without changing the model name or number. Due to this, you'll have a spa cover that matches much better if you measure your own spa, as opposed to depending on a cover company's template.

You need to start with determining whether to measure the actual cover being replaced, or the the hot tub itself. In most cases, you are able to measure the existing cover you have if you are guaranteed it fits right.

If the cover has been damaged or is not available, the hot tub alone should be measured. When you measure the hot tub, keep in mind you need to measure from the outside edge of the spa, directly across to the other side's edge. At this point it's easiest to disregard any cut corners or round corners in the spa.

Once the overall length and width have been discovered, begin to get the corner sizes. There are numerous types of corners with rounded corners being the most popular. There are cut corners and corners with raised speakers. These shall be addressed in a future write-up on hot tub covers.

The normal life span for a spa cover is anywhere from four to ten years based on how well it's cared for. Regardless of how you look at it, replacing the spa cover is part of the ownership of a spa. So with these things in your mind, you should be able to get relatively accurate measurements for your next hot tub cover.
